The Hector family shares a tradition of support for the South Florida community which began in the early 1900's with Harry H. and Grace Hector and John Avery and Alice Guyton, followed by their children and grandchildren.
The tradition of giving continues with the creation of the Hector Family Foundation, Inc. Established by Nancy T. and Robert C. Hector, Jr., and incorporated as a private foundation in the state of Florida on August 31, 2005, the Foundation focuses on an outcome-oriented regular cycle of giving each year. The grantmaking program makes best use of resources by seeking a greater impact and momentum, opportunities for change, and creative new ways of solving problems.
The Foundation is committed to stop the cycle of the breakdown of families that causes distressed and helpless foster and adoptive children. With grim post-foster care odds of homelessness, jail or suicide, the Foundation seeks innovative, gap-filling services for improved results for the most at-risk children.
It encourages partnerships and collaboration to enhance the ability for agencies to provide long-term solutions for children by improving family situations and ultimately changing children's lives in a positive direction.
The Foundation also recognizes that promising approaches and worthwhile organizations often need more than financial assistance. As such, the Foundation complements its direct grantmaking by offering technical assistance services and information to grantseekers, grantees, and public and private agencies concerned about children, youth and families. It also works closely with other funders and participates on policy and advisory bodies consistent with the Hector Family Foundation's interests. |
